I had the privilege of learning watercolor from Don Hendricks who became very renown in the medium, judging national competitions etc. He was a great teacher too. Here's my first watercolors done in the 80s at Fullerton College! The way he taught the class was to have us try a new technique each week, i.e. flat/graded washes, wet into wet, dry brush, salt etc. etc. It made it fun and interesting, but of course things were a mess for a while til you started to get the hang of it.
